WINTER HAIRCARE
It’s not just your skin that gets dry and damaged during winter – cold and windy winter weather can wreak havoc on your hair and scalp too, causing it to dry out, frizz and lose its healthy-looking shine. To keep dry hair nourished and protected all winter, check out our winter haircare tips and routines.

WHY SHOULD YOU CHANGE YOUR HAIRCARE ROUTINE IN WINTER?
When it’s cold and windy during winter, your hair finds it hard to retain its moisture. Spending more time inside with central heating also causes your hair to be stripped of moisture.
That’s why winter conditions can cause dryness, static, frizz and your hair to look dull and unhealthy. To keep your hair nourished and protected and avoid dry scalp in winter, check out our top winter haircare tips and essentials.
WINTER HAIRCARE TIPS

TIP 1: LOOK AFTER YOUR SCALP
It’s important to look after your scalp during the winter. Central heating can strip away moisture, causing your scalp to look and feel dry, itchy and flaky. As the days grow colder we use more hot water and can over-wash our hair, stripping it of its natural oils, leaving your scalp feeling sensitive. Use Ginger Anti-Dandruff Shampoo and Ginger Scalp Care Conditioner to gently clear any loose flakes and soothe your scalp. This duo is suitable for sensitive scalps and helps weak hair feel revitalised and stronger.
When we cover our hair with hats or hoods in cold weather, it can make your hair appear oilier as waxy oils can become more fluid at warm temperatures, making the hair look greasy. Use Fuji Green Tea™ Refreshingly Purifying Shampoo and Fuji Green Tea™ Refreshingly Hydrating Conditioner to cleanse and purify your hair and scalp. To help reduce the build-up of oils, apply our invigorating and gently exfoliating Fuji Green Tea™ Refreshingly Purifying Cleansing Hair Scrub in place of your usual hair wash once a week.

TIP 2: TAKE A BREAK FROM YOUR HEATED STYLING APPLIANCES
During the winter months hair tends to be much drier than usual, so try washing it in the evening and letting it dry naturally instead of blasting it with your hot hair dryer. Instead, try plaiting your hair while it is still damp to achieve heatless overnight waves. For curly hair, simply wrap your wet hair in a t-shirt or microfibre towel. This soaks up the moisture without creating frizz as your hair dries, cutting down on drying time.

TIP 3: NOURISH HAIR WITH BANANA
During the colder winter months your hair finds it harder to retain its moisture, making it look and feel dry. Our Banana Truly Nourishing Hair Mask is enriched with Community Trade organic banana puree from Ecuador, and leaves hair feeling nourished and instantly softer to the touch. Use this treatment once a week for a healthy-looking shine.

TIP 4: RICHLY REPLENISH DRY, PRONE TO DAMAGE HAIR WITH SHEA BUTTER
Cold weather, central heating and over-washing all strip hair of its natural moisture, causing it to become dry and prone to damage, so it needs to be handled gently.
Enriched with handcrafted Community Trade shea butter, our Shea haircare trio gently cleanses and richly replenishes dry, prone to damage hair. The Shea Butter Richly Replenishing Hair Mask contains a range of oils and butters, making it intensely nourishing, with a buttery texture that leaves hair looking healthier and less frizzy – all without weighing your hair down.
